I purchased this player on recommendation from several people on this forum. I noticed when playing a dvd, everything looks and plays great. When playing a kvcd, the picture seems to wobble up and down very very slightly. You can notice it when there are words on the screen. For those with this unit, is this normal or does mine possibly have a slight defect?

I dont notice this on mine, it may be defective, you might want to take your kvcd with you and test it out at radio shack and if this happens on some other cyberhome 300's they have in stock.

Hi magnus,

Make sure you have the setup set to "Auto", instead of NTSC or PAL.
If not, force it to whatever format you're playing at the moment.

Hi Otto ,

On the Cyberhome, press the setup key on the remote, and press right arrow. There you'll see the option "Auto", "NTSC" or "PAL"

I brought my player back and got a new one and this one is still doing the same thing. The picture seems to wobble up and down when playing a kvcd. I played the same discs in another of my players and it didn't shake. What could be the problem? Will you guys please check on a kvcd with writing on the screen and see if it shakes slightly up and down. Thanks!

Hi magnus,

My KVCDs don't jump up and down on my Cyberhome.
Did you check the format setting on the setup

I selected "auto" on format tab. I have tried various tests, on two different tv sets and no matter what it wobbles slightly up and down when playing a kvcd only. I haven't tried a skvcd yet. You can only notice it when there are letters or numbers on the screen. What can be the problem. Should I bring this one back and try number 3? Thanks for your time kwag!

Hi magnus,

That's weird
I've had that problem, but I fix it by setting the correct format on the settings.
I have my Cyberhome connected via component outputs, to a 32" Samsung HDTV.
I have tried 704x480 KVCD resolutions, and they work perfectly.
Also, 352x240 KVCDs work great.
HOWEVER, all my encodes are 23.976fps MPEG-1
I haven't tried MPEG-2 on the Cyberhome.
Is that what you're doing, or are you encoding 29.97fps

I am encoding at 23.976 with mpeg1. I have mine connected with s-video because my component are already used by my sony system which plays nothing but the basics. I don't think hooking it up by component should matter. I don't understand what the problem could be. I checked a 480x480 regular svcd and a dvd and they played fine. So far it just seems to be the kvcd's I'm having problems with. You say you had that problem before changing setting to auto? It was doing the same thing, pulsing up and down? Should I exchange it again and hope for a better one or try a different player?

Hi magnus,

Could you take one of your KVCDs to the store, and test it there

Edit: Try setting it to NTSC, instead of auto. See if that makes a difference.

I'll go to the store and give it a try. They never seem to have this one hooked up though. It always the other brands, go video, cinevision, dual etc.

Do you think the problem could be in the encoding steps or cd-r brand? I am using tmpg, besweet, and nero to burn to a sony cd-r. What are you using?

Hi magnus,

I just saw the problem
I just put in a movie on my player, and I saw the vertical "wobble".
I had the settings in "Auto", so I switched to "NTSC", and the problem persisted.
But then I momentarily switched to "Pal" and back to "NTSC", and it fixed the problem
I tried it with another movie, which behaved the same, and after doing the step above, it fixed it completely.
So just momentarily switch formats, after you load your CD-R, and that should correct the problem.
