Copying VCD?

Hi guys

After several weeks (And several piles of coasters) I've now got the creation of VCD sussed out :)

I have one small problem though that I hope you can help me with.
I created a high quality VCD movie on an 80min CD and this plays perfect on my friends DVD Player. He asked me for a copy of the CD so we fired up his PC and used his 12x Speed HP Writer to make a duplicate (Using the HP software) of the CD at x8 speed (and x4 speed). The VCD copied fine and can be played on the PC.

The problem came when we then tried to play this copied VCD in his DVD player - It plays about 5 seconds of video and then the image freezes. This freeze happens in exactly the same place everytime and we tried several copies.

Any idea on whats causing this - as the original VCD I burnt plays fine in his DVD player - It's just the copies it refused to play.
Many thanks guys

Hi SimonG:

Is the copy a different kind of media or are both VCD's the same CD-R brand? Sounds to me it's a media problem.

Hi Kwag

Many thanks for the reply :)
The media is a different brand, but both are 80min CDR's. incidentally, I tried 2 differenant brands.

The strange thing is that on every copy the video stops at exactly the same place.
Strange that I can play the mpg on the PC using media player without any probs - So I'd assume that the copy was successful.

I'm assuming that VCD's should be just as easy to copy as normal data CD's .....or is there a special way of copying them ?

No, there is no special way to copy a VCD.
You should try another CD copying program Try CloneCD.
