RCA RC5220P

Does any one have this dvd player, cause im thinking of getting it and i dont know if it supports 352x480 kvcd template, or 704x480.

I've tested my player with most of the templates (except MPEG-2 templates) and they work correctly - KVCD Plus (352x240, 352x480, 704x480) and KVCDX3 (528x480). Excellent! 8)

One tip I've picked up while using VCDEasy is selecting VideoCD 1.1 instead of 2.0 - it seems to work better with the RCA.

RCA RC5220P

I thought RC5220P wouldnt run VCD. Can u guys confirm if I can run a CD burned on my CDRW with a VCD format on a RC5220P?

Do I need to unlock it on any way (like unlock for CD-R or VCD)?
If I do so, please, can anyone tell me how to unlock it?

Thanks a lot.

BTW, Will work only VCDs made with VCDEasy or any those SVCDs and VCDs that we get on IRC channel BIN/CUE that we burn will work?

RCA 5220p

I believe the earlier models of the 5220p would not play VCDs. I found the following in a Usenet group:

A previous post (I think back in Nov 99 or so, check Deja.com) stated that
5220P's with a serial number greater than 922xxxxx (or starting with a 0) can
play VideoCDs. My 5220P's serial number starts with 926xxxxx and plays
VideoCDs even though none of the literature that came with it makes mention of
it.

As for media, most CDRs do not work, but most CDRWs do work. Check out the 5220p on vcdhelp.com's compatability list.

VCDs should work, but SVCD BIN/CUEs probably won't work since the RCA doesn't play standard SVCDs.
