Allow me to answer your question, Mr. BoxOfSnoo, for posterity.

iMovie? Useless?

Has anyone had success working with iMovie? I don't mean pulling in 5 minute clips and making a 10 minute movie.

I want to know about TV episodes, captured, commercials clipped, even editing...

Batch encoding to MP3 files?

For another question, is it possible to batch encode a whole pile of .mp2 files (or mp3, I guess) instead of doing them all one-by-one? At least an album's worth, the same way I do ripping.

I...

How to create an audio VCD on a DVD?

Is there any way to do this on a DVD-R?

I just got a burner, and it would be cool to have a vast collection of music always accessible. It might even be worth getting a cheap DVD player to...

I finally got in touch with mediostream support, though.

I wonder if the ATI install ruined my MPEG-2 playback...

Authoring: NeoDVD will not import MPEG from ATI MMC

Does anyone here use neoDVD Plus? I got v5 and it was working OK... I can't get it to import MPEG2 files from my ATI MMC captures.

How do I determine if there's something wrong with either the...

I'm on a quest for the right software too. My drive came bundled with NeoDVD, which does some things suprisingly well, but not all.

What AVISynth version?

Whenever I generate a script it's incompatible with one of the plugins. I have 2.0.7 and 2.5.1 so far and either GripFit_Preview complains or it won't open at all.

I'm getting to hate...

Interesting. I've downloaded a trial of PowerVCR, and though I *could* use this with my current card, it would be cheaper to get it with the ATI card! Is the MPEG-1/2 hardware based?

Thanks

I get the same response from most reviews I've read. (What's MMC, BTW?) It is very attractive to see a MPEG-2 card easily accessible at a nice price though...

I'll keep my ear to the ground. If...

ATI TV Wonder: Record video as VCR format or MPEG?

What is the above card like, lately? I know the earlier ones recorded to a proprietary format, but it seems like this one does MPEG-2. Whether it's hardware or not, I can't tell from the box.

I've read the first one many times, and I don't see a huge difference in terminology, CQ varies the bit rate to keep a consistent quality, and so does VBR, except that 2-pass VBR runs through the...

RCA 5240P

The new 352x240 template has the exact same tweaks I made to get it to play just right on my 5240P! I thought I was reckless lowering the upper bitrate that low..

Works well.

D'oh! Found the blocks

I found the source of blockiness, it's the SOURCE AVI. However, this leads to a success story of easily fitting Toy Story 2 on a CD, in fact it comes out to about 530 MB at CQ 70. I had it at CQ 50...

RCA 5240P

Whenever I run IVTC on a movie, it tends to jump a lot, if that helps. I've just been encoding straight to 29.97 at 352x240 and it clears up a lot.

I don't find in my encodes that IVTC saves a...

Thanks, I'll have to try that. Not that I really understand AviSynth... what does IVTC do in AVS that TMPGEnc can't do?

IVTC

Nope, IVTC makes everything worse. Very jumpy.

I can only capture at 352x240 (or 288) with my AIMS Lab VHX, but my DVD player doesn't like x480 anyways.

Ah! A success story!

How long does it take to encode for you, on what kind of machine?

How much can you fit on a CD at CQ 78?

What are your high/low bitrates? How do you kill the jumpiness?

I've been...

BLOCKS blocks blocks.

I did a 13 hour encode, and actually got the 103 min to about 420 MB! 8O But, the thing is terribly blocky.

I redid it with CQ at 70 (it was 50 before) and got pretty much identical results, but...

Files still too big!

After many scores of hours encoding, I finally got one 103 minute movie on a CD. I had to switch to 2-pass VBR with an average bitrate of 913 fps!! I also switched it to 352x240.

It looks *okay*...
