Did you try the same method as Dogbert with DvdToSvcd and the kvcd temp?

Maybe it didn't work if you kept the audio at 48khz instead of downsampling. Don't give up so easily and...

Encoded the Rugrats.I.P. movie @704x480, 23.976 mpg2, and burned as SVCD. Played beautifully, although I can still see blocks. (on my 46in projection tv?)

sad to say that the display is gray scale or black and white and my system is NTSC. I tried another method, (can't remember the poster's name) where you change it to mpg2 and enable 3:2...
