the cracks and clicks in an encoded .mp2 file are most likely the result of 'toolame'. try using 'mp2enc' instead in besweet

if u mean that the screen bumps up and down the whole time i have the same problem with ntsc encoded material (23.97 fps encoded as 29.97 internally). problem goes away if i convert to pal first....

that i don't get. how can the quality differ when they both use the same engine 'mpgenc' ? with besweet u can even use toolame which, ppl used to say, gives even better quality?

in the 'optimal script' thread it says for PAL to use GOP 12.
in the 'official kvcd specifications' it's advised to use 15?

try this

u could try going for a resolution which gives you a CQ of 60 or more (in tok). that's how i do it anyway :) start with 544x480 or 528x480 and lower your res if it's below 60.

i'm getting this strange blindPP error. it says 'need mod 16 height'.
my sourcefile is 640x360. i have another file which is 512x368 and which loads fine. does it have anything to do with 360/16...

i did 2 quick encodes to see if there's a clear difference .
first one: divx max deblocking, no deringing, and a little bit film effect, no script
second : divx PP disabled, and dialhot script.

i'm thinking off letting the codec's PP do it's job and be done with it. no filters in avisynth. gonna do a few encodes, see what it's worth.

apparently my player doesn't like ntsc very much although it claims it's fully ntsc compatible. guess that goes only for dvd material :roll: ...
