DvdShrink transcode causes second or two pause ?

When I transcode a dvd using DvdShrink with Shrink doing the dvd write also (via nero api), I sometimes get a second or two pause around the start of playback (standalone player).

This may happen...

How come Recode is easily 3-5 times faster than shrink?

Recode 87% = 4 mins
Shrink 87% = 18 mins

(figures not accurate, but the diference is high)

Is there a config to force it to allow these sizes?

First it said it can't do those sizes in 16:9, so I re encoded them at 4:3, now it says they're not standard dvd, and won't let me proceed.

It's not a real compressor, it's a transcoder - what they call "compressed domain transcoding" (or some such). It's a completely different...
