Has anybody ever used one of these? http://www.benscustomcases.com/reviews/convertx2/ ...it has a hardware encoder for mpeg 1,2,4 and divx. There's an older and cheaper model without the divx.Would that make a big difference?

I never used that, but looking at the specs, it's not even close to what a PVR 250/350 can do
A PVR 250/350 can capture 720x480 at 12Mbps, which is just excelent to transcode to something else, because of the high quality capture.
These USB type units don't even approach the quality of PCI cards.

Thanks. I was just wondering, because I've been seeing many positive reviews for this device(and for usb devices thats rare)
This site is a great source of information,so the opinions of the forum members will affect my decisions(on matters dealing with video conversion. )
