At what reslution should I capture if I want to encode to vcd and svcd by using:
1. KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-(PAL)-PLUS.mcf
2. KVCD-CQ-352x576-(PAL)-PLUS.mcf
3. KVCD-CQ-352x288-(PAL)-PLUS.mcf
4. SKVCD-352x576-(PAL).mcf

please specifiy for each case.

and i capture at 720x576 will it give me the best quality?

i'd go 720x576 for # 1.)
and
352x576 for # 2.) to 4.)

for 1.) i'd use the huffyuv codec with either virtual dub or avi_io
for 2.) to 4.) you could probably get away with an mjpeg codec (www.jpg.com/video/mjpeg.htm) at quality 18 or 19-20, or huffyuv for lossless cappz.
for 3.) you'd have to resize to 288.
