I don't know much about Macs I take it this is a good thing then?

IBM certainly seem to be going through some bads times at the moment, in my country they have made thousands of workers redundent and seem to be cutting it staff down quite a lot.

If they do run OS X on a Intel that would be great.

I think the problem is that IBM wasn't able to deliver their chips in time, and with all the sales that Apple has had lately, mostly because of the new Mac Minis, they have decided to switch CPU manufacturers.
So we'll see on Monday what Apple has to announce

Hi Karl,

I just read that report ont he link you gave and it was very interesting indeed.

I didn't know that OS X was based on the open source FreeBSD. Does this move to Intel mean that Macs may now be more compatible to PC's? Will software between the two be able to port over easier?

I hope this brave move works out for Apple but I think it is a positive move.
