Just noticed this section, never seen it before, sorry.

But i thought i would post the player i have been using which plays everything perfectly. I paid 29.99 GBP's in the UK. :P

Wow a Phillips for just under 30 quid that is pretty good.

Im glad it plays everything that you throw at it.

Philipps + Divx = chinese product OEM.

This explains the price.

And more : Philipps = firmware almost never updated while original chinese brand update its own firmware once a month (experienced with Philipps DVD737)

Conclusion : buy the original !

So you are saying it is not a Genuine Philips? That would explain a lot.

i forget to mention that this doesnt play divx/xvid, and is a genuine Phillips product, unless stated otherwise.
