Just had a thought. (I originally posted this on DIKO forum, but felt that I should include it here too)

For some movies I own, I also own the soundtrack CD. If I rip the CD to my hard disk even with a decent quality mp3 encoding (~192 or higher) it still only uses no more than 100Mb.

I was wondering if I adjusted the encoding parameters to leave a proportionate space free so that I could make a disk containing:-

AUDIO_TS (blank - or can I use this for the mp3 rips?)
VIDEO_TS (authored BDVD files)
SOUNDTRACK (containing the ripped mp3 CD).

So then I could play both from the one source disc. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?

It'd also be nice if I knew a way to access the soundtrack folder via the onscreen DVD menu contained in VIDEO_TS.

I see one: when you put that in the player, it will see a DVD structure and will run in "DVD-Mode". The "mp3" mode won't be activated and you will never have the possibility to browse to the soundtrak folder and select a mp3.

Why not use audio only titles in your project ? DVDLabPro can do that easily ans surely other authoring software.

Note: do not use the directory AUDIO_TS that is used for DVD-Audio.

Using DVDLabPro, would I have to rip the audio to MPA/MP2 rather than MP3? This then makes me wonder if MP2 rips are of comaparable quality to MP3...

yes you will, no they are inferior and to finish I never tried to do audio only with DVDLabPro. It's not really it's purpose.
