Hi guys

Hoping you can shed some light on this one for me because I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. I've recently built a new pc and as such have being installing things again. However, I cannot get avisynth working with mpeg2 sources, be it via direct show or a d2v project.

I test all my scripts first using media player classic, and get this error when trying to use a mpeg2 as a source file.

Quote:
Unable to download an appropriate decompressor. (Error=80040200)

Cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found. (Error=80040255)
Now I figured that this was a lack of a codec for mpeg2 BUT I have Nero Showtime installed as part of the Nero 6 package which has an mpeg2 codec with it (which works, it can play the source mpeg back fine, but not the script). I also have PowerDVD 6 installed which can also playback the source mpeg file, but once again not the script.

If I playback the mpeg file directly in media player classic it works ok, however the script does not. So I'm well and truely stumped, it works fine on the old pc, just no dice on the new one.

I've reinstalled avisynth countless times now, i've removed Nero and left powerdvd and vice versa.. nothing I do seem to do has any effect. Even tried the Microsoft tool deccheck.exe to change the preffered mpeg2 decoder between the Nero 6 and Powerdvd ones but that didn't help either.

Ideas?

As always you need a YV12 codec to read an avs script into whatever program.

Install Xvid codec, it does this very well.
