Just an alpha but it don't seems there are things that can lead to a disaster in your common tasks.

If you have problems, try adding SetPlanarLegacyAlignment(true) after one line at a time and see which filter needs it. It needs to be after the filter that has problems with the new chroma alignment.

Duh.
Now I didn't get it...
2.5.7Alpha?
I thought 2.5.6 was still in Beta or am I wrong here? .

Go on the sourceforge page, you will see that there is a section for alphas (and betas) where 2.5.6 goes from alpha to RC2 and then it has been release (and even re-released as 2.5.6a) in the official package section.

2.5.6a is the official release since 28 october 2005. So yes, you miss some things

How stupid of me.
I assumed that by having an 'a' appended to the release number would mean it is still not a final release.
Duh to me .
