Does anyone know of a program that will allow two or more users to collaborate together on an open file? (e.g. a word or excel document).

I think this can be done with Windows Netmeeting, but I know that has not been updated in a long time... Are there any other (*freeware) software applications that will allow me to do this?

Thanks!

Hamachi
http://www.hamachi.cc

With that, you can use Windows Remote Services, P2P apps, or ANY other network application, and it's all in a secured encrypted environment
The free version allows up to 16 users

Edit: You could also use a VNC, configured to accept multiple users, and everyone can see each other's desktop.

Thanks Kwag - that looks like a good way to set up a secure network.

But I need a little hand holding to do what I want to accomplish...

What would I then do if I want to share control over, say a word file I am working on with a colleague remotely?

This was easy to do with netmeeting, but Netmeeting seems to be tempermental and I think I need to mess aroud with my router to get it to work properly (and unsecurely I guess), but don't want to do that...

Thanks!

You can have your colleague connect to you via "Windows Remove Services", or any VNC, like UltraVNC

What about using netmeeting through hamachi?

Do you know if that would work if we use our Hamachi addresses in Netmeeting?

(ie: using Hamachi as a way to get around the router/port issues with netmeeting?)

Is there anything special I would need to do to get this to work? (I'll try it anyway...)

Thanks!

Nope. As long as your Hamachi client can connect to the network, you can use any TCP or UDP program you want

If you want to try Hamachi, feel free to connect to a network I just created called: kvcd.net
Password: RQqkSVy5XkKfofpIiEotElGxqAGNjdJdis1CN72nTt7IocClAO InzBWF996vxE2

Then right click on the network named kvcd.net and open a chat window
BTW, I'm using the latest BETA version of Hamachi, available in the forum here: http://forums.hamachi.cc/viewtopic.p...856afc5c6f43ce
