Hey there, I'm quite new.. no, very new to this scene, so please be patient! I only really came on the forums because I'm going travelling soon, and I'd like to ditch my CD case, and put all of my DVDs on my laptop, ideally in .avi format, around 700MB per movie. Could somebody please point me towards a guide that'll explain the process to me? Preferably a guide that doesn't assume you know about this area.

I've already used DVD Decrypter to put Anchorman on my PC (a whopping 5.5GB file) - shall I keep this file? Or just delete it if it's not needed.

Any help is much appreciated

Hi axtract,

We don't convert DVDs to AVI here. Only to KVCDs/KDVDs.
If that's what you really want to do, check "DIKO" here: www.vmesquita.com

Note also that the site if for "Advanced Video Conversion". Not really the place to be if you need : "a guide that doesn't assume you know about this area".

Haha, waste of $3!
Nah, I'm kidding.

The site seems really informative, I guess i just have to learn a bit before it really becomes useful!

Thanks anyway for your help.

Indeed
It will take some time before you get the "hang" of it, because there are many manual steps involved.
Feel free to ask, as you will probably stumle across several bumps in the road ahead
