Hello,
A few month's ago I've downloaded an dvd with 5 movies on 1 disc.
The quality was so good, I've deside to create my own disk with more movies on 1 disc.
My question is: why can I finde a tutorial to create an dvd with skvcd's?

There is no guide that I know. But things are rather simple if you already know how to use an authoring software (DVDLab, Tmpgenc DVD Author...). Do you know one of them ?

Be carreful : a DVD made from SKVCD will be not compliant with the standard. You should verify first if your standalone can read not standard resolution.
Try with the sample disc that are there :

I've tested the dvd in my dvd player and the dvd works!
Is it possible to create a disk with more movies on 1 disk with TEMPenc plus and Sony DVD architect?

The same kind of problem can occur : if you absolutly want to put 5 movie on a disc, the spec of the video won't respect the DVD standard and the software can possibly refuse them.
DVDLab accepts a lot of non compliant streams, Sony DVD Architect I don't know.

(tmpgenc can encode anything, there is no issue with this).

Anyway : why 5 movies ? DVD-R disc are cheap now, there is no real reason to put more than 2 or 3 movie on each.

It's all about the space :P When i'm able to add more movies to 1 single dvd, i need less space in my room.
An other reason why I want to burn more then 2 films on 1 dvd, is that i want to create a few discs with an complete triology. Usally i create in that case an dvd with 3 or 4 dvix movies. (i've got a stand-alone divx player) The problem is that i can't share this disc with somebody else...

If one of you goal is to share, then again you should stick to DVD compliancy, that means using full (704 or 720 pixels) or half (352 pixels) resolution. KSVCD are 480 pixels... your standalone plays that but perhaps not your friends ones.

An other question : you talk about doing KDVD from KSVCD. Does that mean that you already have the KSVCD encoded and just want to join them all on a DVD-R, or do you plan to encode into KSVCD and put 5 of them on a disc ?

(Don't worry, I will end to explain you how to do want you want... )

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....asc&highlight=

What you need is :
- avisynth
- tmpgenc

- DVDLab for the authoring (or Sony DVD architect if you knwo how to use it, else there are a lot of tutorial for them on the net).

If you need some details, just ask.

Have you read the available KVCD guides yet? It will give a good impression about the overall process. When you've got all your video and audio streams encoded, use dvdlabpro to author it.

I'm sorry, but 8 movies on a dvd will look like poor VHS-tapes/crap.

With KDVD you can put up to three movies one 1 disc, preserving the dvd quality. Or, 2 movies preserving dvd quality and 5.1 sound.

KDVD can fit up to 16 hours but I use it to store VHS capture that I did before in VCD. And to be honnest I never watch them as they are too bad .

As said by gamma the aim of KDVD (and KVCD) is not to fill the disc with the most movie we can, it is to do that keeping the original DVD quality.

Yes, for VHS to DVD it is perfect, and the quality (considering the source) is very good. I use it myself also for VHS transfers

that brings another Question in my mind, does the KVCD matrix depend on the encoder being used. I mean it will work best with x,y,z encoders and not so good with a,b,c encoders ???

Theorically, the matrix has to be adapted to the nature of the movie (fast/low action, natural color or CGI anime...) and the to bitrate wanted, but the encoder is not a key point.

KVCD-Notch is well adapted for low-to-mid bitrate and a typical blockbuster (colored) movie.
