Well, I'm totally blasted away with "Tomato" firmware for these routers:

@Rui,

I dumped pfSense at home for this, on a WRT54G v1.0.
The firmware is just awesome
The QoS (Quality of Service) for VoIP is just second to none.
I can now download many eMule streams and bittorrent, without affecting the voice.
This is truly a masterpiece
So if anyone wants to convert a cheap WRT54G router into s $800.00+ router, get yourself one of these, and flash it with the "Tomato" firmware
NOTE: The WRT54G or WRT54GS must be version 1.x to 4.x
The newer models, v5.x and 6.x, are trash!

Hi heyitsme,

Tomato blows away DD-WRT in every aspect
DD-WRT is basically a "face lift" of the original Linksys, with some additions.
Tomato is a software rewrite, with many bug fixes and additions

Well kwag im going to take your word for it. I think my linksys needs a facelift, though she is a little younger than your badboy v.1. Yeah i am going to have to purchase a second wrt. Probably have to go with the GL, because of those crap vortex or whatever firmware is on the latest ones.

Hi heyitsme,

I just bought a WRT54GS from here: http://www.tekunix.com/store.htm via eBay, and after I bought it, I noticed the guy was right here in my hometown
So I actually called him on the phone, and went to pick it up myself
He dropped the shipping charges
Here's the auction I won: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280053227022
See the buyer: KVCD
This thing is running like a charm

Then it's because it surely is GOOD.

Yeah but where will I find these v1.x to v4.x here in Portugal/Europe.
I would gladly buy from USA but then I would have to pay for extra shipping $ plus I would have to pay for customs.
So instead of ~$120 I'd probably pay ~$250.
That's a lot of dough we're talking about here.
And then I would have to get rid of my net4521 which won't be easy and that already cost me a lot of $ not so long ago.
I guess I'll keep pfsense at work on a more powerful PC and I'll stick to m0n0wall on my home soekris even if I have to sacrifice QoS because of that.
But thanks for the tip, though.

Cheers buddy
