Now that I have finally succeeded in getting good final KVCDx3's, I need to know how to best remove commercials, then use predictor and fitcd for final sizing.

If I go through the entire process of creating the KVCDx3, at say 90% CQ, can I cut and merge in TMPGEnc and then predict and reencode the KVCDx3 MPEG1 at the desired rate to fit on CD?

Or is there a better way?

I can use the trim avisynth filter.
You can preview the exactly frames you want to trim in vdub.
Add something like this right after you load your source in the avs script:

trim(0, 7500) + trim(10500, 18000) + trim(21000, 28500)

It's just an example, and you will have to find the start and end frames for each block.
This way you will have no commercials to encode, and you will encode just once.

If you use trim dosen't it only work for the video stream? How do you cut the audio from the commercials so that when you multiplex the audio and video are still in sync?

I use cut editing within TMPGEnc to eliminate the commercials. Since I usually supply TMPGEnc with an audio source instead of multiplexing later.

I am actually searching right now for a good MPEG editor
I need to edit my DMR-E20 captures ( a .VRO file ) in my PC, to remove the commercials. I won't be re-encoding, because I do a lot of captures in 6 hour mode, which is MPEG-2 at 352x240. So I just demux the .VRO into a .m2v and .ac3 ( yes, the DMR-E20 records AC3 audio ), and then I encode the audio to .mp2 and mux back as VCD
Works like a charm :!
But I need to find a good program to edit my stream. Panasonic bundles a program called "MovieAlbum SE", but apparently it's included when you buy a DVD-RAM. Mine is a OEM drive, so I didn't get any software. I'm trying to find a link to buy the program, but no such luck yet
If anyone knows of a good program ( Not NanoPeg of MyFlix ), please let me know. Or a link to a site that sells the "MovieAlbum" program.

Thanks,
-kwag

You can cut the audio if you encode the audio with TMPeg

I don't know of a good Mpeg2 editor so if that is what you want, please ignore my post.

For my analog captures (Huffy codec), I use VirtualDub. I do my editing there then save the settings out to "edit.vcf". From there I open the vcf file into a little hack that I wrote that translates the virtualdub file into Aivsynth Trim functions. (you can easily translate manually) and paste into my Avisynth script. No audio trouble.

I found what I wanted. It's MPEG-VCR http://www.womble.com/products.htm
And you don't need to re-encode. It cuts (edits) parts out of your MPEG-2 file, and then writes a new MPEG-2 file to the disk.

Edit: There are two versions: One for MPEG-1 and one for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2

Click on "Purchase" on their website. The MPEG2VCR file is listed there. I have used in the past with ok results.

Maestro {Kwag, that is }

Seems like we almost need a separate heading {url} off of the Forum headers for Software / Applications...
we're starting to duplicate efforts..

If you are capping to .avi you can search doom9 forums for vcf2avs which will convert the .vcf to .avs. You can then paste the Trim into your script and you can open the .avs directly in VDub and extract the .wav.

Hi all..

off-topic...

>> Software / Applications...

@ kwag and el_mero_zooter and..

to add to Zooter's suggestion...
And, can you add Computer too ??
Maybe make it one FORUM, since these are so closely related topic,
and still have somethign to do w/ video to some degree.. "what's the
best video/ram/cpu/mb/chipset/wires/cables/media/monitor etc. for.."

i.e., Software / Applications / Computer...

Yeah, because some like to talk about Software, while others, Computers,
and when there are issues w/ either softare/driverInstallation or hardware
or pc system issues, they seem to relate sort of. I can't think of anything
else to add to this one-for-all FORUM (if you are deciding on adding this
at all that is
)

Have a great weekend all.

i follow this steps(thanks cm) using mpeg vcr:

"Use what ever to cut the file then in mpeg-vcr, click File and Open MPEG movie. In that window that pops up, click on the small Insert Effect button. The long green band has the curser to the left, this is the start of the movie. In the Start Effect box, move down to and select Begining Fade. Then hit OK. Click the Insert Effect button again. Slide the pointer to the far right and in Start Effect box, move doen to and select Ending Fade. Then hit OK again.

Now moving the slider/pointer on the movie window ill show that there is now fade in at the start and end. Now hit the samll Save button, give an output name and select the MPEG type (VCD, SVCD, etc). Demux this file, discard the audio part and re-mux with audio that you have created fadein/out with in your Audio Editor."

in this part:
"Now hit the samll Save button, give an output name and select the MPEG type (VCD, SVCD, etc). "
seems that the prog is reencoding all again!

is there a better way to cut with fade without reencode?
or i loose some?

help please!

Hi jorel,

When you select to save, you don't select VCD or anything else. You just save with defaults. If you select something other than the default that was read when you opened your MPEG file, it will be re-encoded

hey Kwag,
really works using the "save" without more options.

after follow you and save as default was faster.
thanks!!

one doubt remains:
after this the prog open the new saved file and ,don't know why,
the last frames appear after the final fade...
only few frames and i can't remove ....

what i did wrong if i follow everything like you wrote?

the begining is perfect, the final do fade but show few last frames again in the new file after saved!

I guess something happened when you cut that end
Can you cut that end again when the new MPEG reloaded and appears in the new window

yes, is strange cos i cut the file and save.
open this file and do the job with fade and all is ok before i save but
after save this ,the new file saved open with the last 2 or 3 frames
is showing again after the final fade
the first file where i do the job is perfect,
only the last new saved show this.

my pc is crazy?!?!
