When capturing from tv (Dune2), is it better to Telecide() & Decimate(), or to encode KVCDx3 at 29.97fps? If one uses Telecide() & Decimate(), is there a optimum dust/smoother filter combination?
When I capture at 640/480, Telecide(), Decimate(), Faerydust() and Fluxsmooth(), I get fantastic quality from KVCDx3 Mpeg1 528x480, but small jerks in the output.
When I remove Telecide() and Decimate() and encode at 29.97, I get smooth output of lesser quality. Obviously the lowering of CQ to compensate for the extra fps has a big effect.
There are no jerks in my WinTVGo card/irtualVCR capture with BT drivers and MJPEG set at 19.
I guess my question is whether one must alway leave tv captures at 29.97 or could my filter choices be causing a problem?
