I'm trying out WinDVR (WinTV card) into DVD2AVI into TMPGEnc for KVCD. I remember a post where you mentioned using WinDVR.

What resolution do you capture with?
What filter(s) do you use for TV captures?

I want to compare to VirtualVCR captures due to smaller file sizes involved.

Hi-

I use WinDVR. I capture at 352 x 480 at 3600K

Works pretty good. I am having trouble with AVI captures. The frame rate is never 29.97.... and I can't get rid of the jaggieness of AVI caps.

@ telemike.. nicksteel.., hi all.

Maybe winDVR is FieldSwapping.. why don't you try and visually see
if this is what's ben happening ?? Open .avi inside vdub and select the:

* FieldSwap filter.

Although I've never used winDVR, maybe it has TWO options ?? ..to select
the resolutions. ie,

* One might be by typing it in ie, [29.970]
* or the other might be a drop-down select.

If it's a drop-down select, maybe you might want to try that instead.
Those features usually LOCK down the fps.

Good luck.

i used to use windvr but after trying iuvcr i am not going back. using windvr, the best i could get was 352x480 and i would still lose frames on some scenes. with iuvcr, i use the huffy codec and can cap at 720x480 with 0 dropped frames. the only thing is that the caps are like 18 gigs for half an hour. but the quality is great.
