Hi all...

Is there a way to downsample a 48khz .mp2 file into an 44.1khz mp2 file without reencoding and loosing quality?

Jell,
without re encode i don't know if is possible.

i think that if you re encode to wave 48k than
again to mp2 44k,you don' t loose anything....
wave is (seems) lossless!
well only the audible difference from 48k to 44k.
48k is better!....i know,some players don't like 48k,
but the sound is better.

Headac3he is the best for me in this case!

It is not possible. Even if you converted to WAV first, the final result will be somewhat worse although you probably won't be able to hear it unless you really try to.

WAV is a lossless format, but if you convert a 160kbps MP2 to WAV, resample to 44.1kHz and then encode to 160kbps MP2, it would be the same as encoding straight from 160kbps 48kHz MP2 to 160kbps 44.1kHz MP2.

Logic, that is

yes Boulder,this was my "fear".
maybe little "cosmetics" in the wave before encode back to mp2
with disguises like gentle equalizations can help a little.
.....running out logic!

Jell & Boulder, take a look:

ssrc seems better!

Yep, SSRC is the one to use. BeSweet uses it via ssrc.dll, I don't know if HeadAC3he does, but probably it's the same one.
