Hauppuage PVR-250
Capture MPEG2 at 720x480
Cable nondigital

I get faint horizonal lines that "roll' from bottom to top on captures.

Are there any steps I can take to correct this?

Hi nicksteel,

Seems you are getting some induced EMF in your cables.
Do you have "toroids" at the end of your cable
It you don't know what that is, read here: http://www.electronics-tutorials.com/basics/toroids.htm
You can get them at your local "Radio Crap" store , I meant "Radio Shack"
I assume you are using the RCA video connector for your capture
Try the S-Video connector.

I have basic cable (no box, no digital), so have coax cable into the card.

Is your cable analog
If so, then you may have induction on the cable
Same principle applies. Put a toroid bead about 2 inches from your cable connector.

It is analog. Will pick one up from Radio Shack (assuming they understand what I need). Thanks, as usual. I still haven't figured out how to set up an angelfire blog to put an example there, but I am still getting very acceptable 704x480 MPEG2 from the 720x480 PVR250 captures using the MA script as is. I can get about 1 1/2 hours with good quality. Looking forward to your ongoing CQMatic efforts!

They have several types. There are some round, and others that are square "snap-on" types (the ones I use), where you make one loop around it, and then snap both parts together. Hopefully, that will solve the problem if the interference is riding in the cable
If not, you might also want to check your grounding. If your ground is not very good, that will also cause noise problems.
