timeshifting software is good?

I read taht the PVR-250 is a good choice so I guess I should go with it unless you guys talk me out of it.

I basically want to use my PC as a Tivo type device to record my digital cable broadcast to play them back later.

What software is good for setting this up to automaticlaly record the shows I want?

Any recommendations or concerns I should have about getting into this?

For Windoze: SnapStream
http://www.snapstream.com

For Linux: MythTV
Main site: www.mythtv.org
But I suggest this installation, if you want to go the MythTV route: http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html

If I switch from the software that came with the PVR250 to SnapStream, do I need to uninstall anything? Can both be resident at the same time? i'm running XP.

Hi nicksteel,

SnapStream uses the windows drivers to access the card. Make sure you have the latest PVR-250 drivers installed.
The software that is included with the WinTV PVR card is really a joke, compared to SnapStream
SnapStreams makes your PC act like a "TiVO" or "ReplayTV", with probably more features than both of them.
If you're going to use SnapStream, just disable the software that came with your PVR-250.
