@Anyone,

Help!!! My DVD Player (JVC XV-S60BK) has reciently started to
malfunction. When trying to insert a DVD or anything for that
matter, it just displays "loading". Before I trash it, since it's more
then 3 years old and out of warrentee, I'm hoping someone has
seen this same problems and maybe found a solution.

Thanks

Hi BP,

Did you clean the lens
With a DVD lens cleaner, or if you're brave with a long cotton swab ( Q-Tip )

I cleaned the lens several times, but this simple solution wouldn't
work. I did some research on google groups and found someone
with the same DVD and similiar problem. This unit was upgraded
with a single laser for both CD and DVD. There have been complaints
to JVC (they wouldn't respond to anyone including myself) but no
answer. I took it to one of JVC's repair center, but they charge $50
just to look at it. So, the hunt is on for a new DVD player that plays
KVCD, DVD-R, MP3, and so on.....

Thanks

@Kwag and Jellygoose,

I settled on Cyberhome CH-DVD 505. I checked the KVCD DVD
compatibility chart for this model which was there. I checked
VCDHelp.com's DVD Player database and the reviews were great.
It's a great DVD player. Now I have a problem finding where to buy
it. I looked at EBay, Amazon, some german websites, and none had
it in stock. It priced at $85. If someone has a link at this price or lower,
please respond

That's a good deal right there... Found it for 83 euros here in Germany... Cheapest price available I think. However, no international shipment...

@Hi everyone,

Cyberhome ch-dvd 302, 402, 502, 505, etc are european versions

Cyberhome ch-dvd 300, 400, 500, etc are american versions

The big difference is region code and macrovision firmware.

I bought cyberhome ch-dvd 300 at RadioShack $49.99 and it
is a great little player. I've read it won't last too long before
it has problems, but at that price I'll buy another one. Thanks
for everyone's advice (Kwag, Jellygoose, and others). It plays
everything I threw at it (e.g. DVD-R,DVD+R,KVCD,VCD,etc)
without a problem.
