I was just reading about the different bitrates u should use for kvcds. I usually encode my audio at 224kps, but i read that u don't need that high. What recommended rate should i encode with and is there any disadvantage with encoding it at a lower rate. (There must be some disadvantage).

Hi vdk_au,

Audio encoded with HeadAC3he, sounds excelent at 128Kbps for movies, and 160Kbps for musicals.
You really don't need to go higher

Can u actually tell the difference between 128kbps and 224kbps? or is there not much difference? Wouldn't you lose alot of the audio information if u had that much difference? (for movies).

There isn't that much difference in size for 128kbps to 160kbps, is there? So wouldn't it be wiser to encode it at 160kbps for movies.

Send a message via ICQ to incredible
The gain of less filesize (and its some MBs!) when encoding at 128kbit you can add to the Videobitrate and therefore the quality of the videostream will rise visibly at the same muxed endfilesize.

An other way to answer the same thing : yours eyes are much more sensitive that yours ears.
You won't suffer from a loss in audio quality from 160 to 128, but you will benefit greatly from the increase of quality in the video !

I even did 96kbps MP2 for really tight fit on cd, and it was still OK, you start to hear saturation (sp?) and metallic noise around 64kbps.

Hug ! You start to hear really great loss under 128. 112 is the limit for me.
