Hi,

I'm been learning about MPEG-2 encoding and now it's time to dive into the authoring options

For MPEG-2 encoding I've been working in command-line with an Mencoder port for Windows and wouldn't like to break the command-line tradition

I've heard about DVDAuthor ports but that doesn't accept Vobsub formats.
Do I have other choices? Can anybody give me a hint?

Cheers,
Bilu

My idea is DVD9->DVD5 reencoding.

It seems dvdauthor is the tool for the job. I don't have VOB files here (@work) but the latest versions have tools like dvdunauthor and supunmux, I supposed this are used to rip the DVD and create a structure that can be modified for dvdauthor.

If someone has experience on this field I would like feedback. Thanks.

Hi bilu,

There is a command-line "dvdauthor" floating around. I've ben meaning to
dive into it to see what I can gui with. But, I've ben lazy and busy w/ other
things. vcdhelp might have some info too. They have a PROGRAMMING forum
over there too. Look for user, "Liquid217" - a nice guy he did a "dvd author gui"
app using dvdauthor as his port.

You can look under:

* free dvd authoring tool - only 5 pages deep

If I can help, I'd be happy to lend a hand here or there, as well as others
here too, I'm sure

Also, I'm with you too, on command-line tridition. I like working with apps
that are in this mode... always room for new 's

Keep us informed.. and Cheers,
