I cannot load the .dat file into WinsubMux so I need to convert to .mpg file first. I've tried this with VCD easy's MPEG tool "cdxa2mpg" which is intended for chaning .dat files to .mpg file, but......

I get an errormessage saying that my .dat file (extracted from .bin file with IsoBuster) is not an actual .dat file (with "RIFF" header (??)).

Someone can point me in the right direction ?

Edit: I see that WinSubMux doesn't handel .srt files. How to ad .srt subs to a .mpg file ? (what software ?)

Hmmmm....no reply yet, that's a pitty....

Well, meanwhile, I converted my .dat file to .mpg with vcdGear....+ I have two versions of subs (.srt + .ssa). It seems that WinSubMux can only make switchable subs and not permanent ones (which I need voor my KVCD).

Please help me as I am doing "Scarface" and I realy want to see the movie with subs (Toni Montana is hard to follow for me ...).

Greets...

Paulus, let think a little : adding permanent subs means to add somthething ON THE PICTURE, that is the same to removing something from the picture and that means... hum... ?

Re-encode !

Sorry for my stupidity (seriously).

I have a little experience meanwhile but not so much with manual KVCD procedure (That's what lead me to DVD2SVCD in the first place).

Subs was the problem for me in the very beginning and now again. I haven't been able to find a good guide for subs.

But, I think I can make a new .avs script with note pad using the Textsub command yes ? Something like:

Mpeg2source("D:\Scarface.d2v")
BlindPP(cpu=4)
Blockbuster(method="noise",detail_min=1,detail_max =3,variance=0.1,seed=1)
Convolution3D(1, 6, 12, 6, 8, 2.8, 0)
GripCrop(352,288,overscan=1, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="LanczosResize")
Undot()
TemporalSoften(2,7,7,3,2)
DCTFilter(1,1,1,1,1,1,0.5,0)
GripBorders()
Textsub ("d:\scarface.srt")

Will the quality be affected by the re-encode ?

Is the syntax for "textsub" correct ?

Can I use the .style file for subs and how do I preview the position of the subs ?

Sorry to keep on bugging you...

PS: by the way, my Pinokkio project (2 SVCD discs -> 1 KVCD dis) turned out fantastic ! Thanks for your help on that. I'm getting the hang of it

That is exactly that.

Yes it is.

Textsub automatically use the .style file if it finds one.

Thanks for the advice.

I think I won't go for the subs and leave it like it is....

I don't want to compromise the quality for this project
