ENCODING
& CONVERSION GUIDES ->
Introduction
to Encoding and Converting Video
Covers
information on the complete encoding (converting) process,
from identifying the source, to reasons why conversion is
necessary, to
suggestions/reviews on the varying encoder software.
Encode
MPEG with Tsunami MPEG Encoder (TMPGEnc)
Guide for
converting video to MPEG format with the popular Tsunami MPEG Encoder
(often called TMPGEnc). Guide uses the slightly older 'Plus
2.5' version of the software, but the settings will still be
similar for the older/free non-Plus version, and the newer
wizard-driven 'XPress 3.0' and 'DVD Source Creator'
versions. Includes information for both environment
settings, as well as a standard MPEG-2 for DVD-Video
encodes.
Encode
MPEG with Canopus ProCoder
Guide for
converting video to MPEG format with the popular Canopus Procoder, often
regarded as the high quality encoder available. Includes
information for both the Pro version (using v1.5) and the
Express version.
Encode
MPEG with MainConcept Encoder
Guide for
converting video to MPEG format with the MainConcept MPEG
Encoder. Adobe Premiere uses this as their built-in encoder,
renaming it to Adobe MPEG Encoder, but it's the same
software.
Encode
XVID MPEG-4 with VirtualDub
For sharing video
online with friends/family, not compliant with most DVD
players. Guide for
converting video to XVID with the popular free editor
VirtualDub. Discusses proper methods to IVTC/de-interlace
and encode a high quality video stream. Not an optimum
method to store video, but it works decent if done properly.
Convert VCD to DVD
Guide to properly
extract MPEG-1 data from a VCD and author to a DVD. No
conversion of advanced concepts are needed, only requires
ISOBuster and Tsunami (TMPG) DVD Author. Only files not
compliant with DVD-Video format will need re-encoding. Also
works for CVD, does not work for SVCD or XVCD.
