RESTORE GUIDES -> ATI VideoSoap filters
Coming soon.
.
.
.
In the meantime, here's some quick tips:
- VHS EP mode recording grain
best removed by a 15-18% despeckle filter (select
Salt-N-Pepper from the presets menu and then alter the
percentage in the despeckle lower than 78% default)
- The combo filters can add temporal compression and cause
audio drift (sound sync errors). You can use them, but test
first and be very careful
- Don't both with the presets. Experiment yourself and feel
free to tweak the default values.
- Do not overdo the filtering. Remember that a PC monitor
can see more detail than a tv set, so some of that precision
may be wasted when the tv would not have made the error
evident to being with.
- VideoSoap is not the only restoration abilities ATI MMC
has. Be sure to use the VIDEO SETTINGS menu in the control
panel to adjust the quality of the video. The GAMMA setting
is normally not found in non-professional cards, and it can
be very beneficial for dark videos (use this instead of
brightness or contrast). Color shifts can also be fixed.
