Well, you didn't mess up. At least you knew Verbatim was the correct brand -- but you've ended up with CMC media. If you've not had any problems with those discs -- and you've tested the CD-R in your drive, using the methods listed at
http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/media/dvd-tests.htm -- then you don't have to return them or throw them away. CD-R media is not quite as awful as DVD media, when it's not 1st class rated.
Those LG drives are generally not very helpful, but you don't necessarily need to return it if it's been acting fine for everything else. Best Buy won't charge any restocking fees, but they will generally only accept returns within 30 days, with original box/documentation, and everything still in like-new condition. Don't forget the receipt. A Pioneer, Samsung, Sony or LiteOn drive would be arguably better, especially when it comes to reading/ripping media. So yeah, return/exchange if it's an option.
I routinely use Verbatim and Philips CD-R. I don't even remember what the ID is on the last couple of packs. Not tested these recent one, used them for audio book conversions that I listened to in the car on winter road trips --- and not one disc skipped in my picky car CD player, nor do I recall more than 1-2 coasters (ejected bad burns @ burning stage). I wonder if mine are CMC. I believe the Philips are PHILIPS. (I'd look now, but the discs are in the car, and it's raining outside!)
Recurring billing can be ended before it's renewed. Paypal sends a warning out a week or more in advance, and "cancel" should be an option.
