The media ID is not written on the package, no. Look for Verbatim media that are made in Taiwan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE), or India. Look for either "DataLife" or "AZO" logos to be on the package. You don't want Value Series discs.
CMC is second class media, unreliable, best used for duplication only (something that is easily replaced -- not a master disc or archival disc).
