Will a JVC DR-MV1 function correctly with the remote from a JVC DR-10S or do they need the specific one for the model in question?
All of the LSI-based JVC DVD recorders have interchangeable remotes. The JVC DR-M10 and DR-M100 work on each other, as well as on the DR-MV1 and DR-MV5.

As an owner of several units, I just use one remote, and the rest sit in a drawer.

The same is true of JVC S-VHS VCRs, too. Even PAL and NTSC units use the same remotes. (Any VCR for any VCR, that is -- don't misunderstand and think VCR and DVD recorder remotes are interchangeable.)

Some remotes vary in exact layout, buttons and color -- but most of the same basic needed functions are present on all the remotes.
