What is the Best Screen Capture Program?
What is the best screen capture program available for Windows 7? I want one that can capture videos, video games, and VirtualBox. Basically, any program I can use on my PC, including in full screen. I tried using HyperCam but it won't install.

I use the payware 1AVCapture. It works nicely.
Another good one is the freeware tool AviScreen, though it only captures in a few uncompressed formats. I've attached the portable (no-install) version to this post. Just unRAR and use. I'm not sure how well any of these may capture what's happening inside of a virtual machine. VirtualBox contains a video capture function, but it's command-line controlled and difficult to use. Look up "vboxheadless". I've not tried it to date myself. There's a blog entry here, showing how complex it is: http://vmetc.com/2009/07/18/video-of...on-ubuntu-904/ I'd rather use VMWare, which has this built in and easy to use: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/do...g_capture.html VMWare Workstation is payware, but has a trial: http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/new.html |
i am using recordzilla. works perfectly.

Do you ever have problems with recordzilla, such as not recording properly, quality issues, or frame issues?

Several things to consider from that post:
If you want payware, 1AVcapture works pretty well. I've used that for some online tutorials in the past. I didn't buy it, however -- it was free from GivewayoftheDay.com about a year or two ago. Get it here: http://www.pcwinsoft.com/1AVCapture It's $60 on the site. But when you install it, it offers a 50% discount if you buy it the first day of install. So $30. My suggestion is to try it on one computer, and see if you like it during the 21-day trial. If you decide to buy it, install it on the important computer where it's needed, and take the $30 discount. (I completely hate the way software companies are dishonest about price. If you want $30, make it $30 all the time.) |
