Either DisKeeper or Raxco PerfectDisk. Use those myself.

PerfectDisk has a combo deal last time, buy 5+ for a deal, so I mostly have those.
I don't know that one is better than the other. It was down to those two, and I let the $$ guide me.

I don't see one for DisKeepeer currently.

Thanks. Out of curiousity, what makes that better than the one that's already loaded onto your computer?

The sites both have comparisons of why it's better than the ones that comes with the OS.
The "defragmenter" in Windows actually does NOT defrag all aspects of the drive (metadata, for example). These others will.
These speed up a system, among other things.

I run mine monthly. I don't use that always-run stuff, because I hate when my drives are always "thinking" (make noise).

I'm a big fan of Defraggler (https://www.piriform.com/defraggler). It is fast, efficient and highly customizable. It can be selected to replace the Windows defragmentation tool in all of the Explorer context menus. You can schedule various forms of defrags and specify settings and schedules for each drive. You can also script different methods of defragmentation. Did I mention that it is completely free?

You can install it or use it as a portable version (though the portable version has some limitations regarding schedules and automation).

Defraggler is fine for a freebie, but it's still not a 100% complete defragment like the commercial software.
We only use Raxco on our systems here.
But for my own budget systems, not used for work, I'd consider Defraggler.

I'm intrigued. What does Raxco defragment that Defraggler does not? Are you referring to the page file and other items that can not be defragged from within the OS?
