Sandisk Memory Vault for long term storage
I see Sandisk quotes that its Memory Vault sticks are able to preserve data for upto 100 years.
http://www.sandisk.com/products/usb/memory-vault/ Are they really worth? I am just using a HP 32 GB USB 2.0 Pen Drive. Regards |
I find claims of X years to be nothing more than marketing hogwash.
Ever notice that media products that make these claims are ALWAYS the worst products? Just think of hard drives, CD-R or DVD-R. Furthermore, read the fine print. These are NEVER guarantees! Quality products have sensible lifespans, the end. I'd much rather use a good product from a known-good manufacturer. For USB thumb/flash drives, that means several quality brands like HP, Kingston, PNY ... and yes, ever SanDisk -- sans the pointlessly expensive version! I buy all of mine from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/USB-Flash-Driv...&tag=thdifa-20 |
Ok thanks. One more question:
Are USB 3.0 pen drives suggested? regards |
pen drive = thumb drive = flash drive
Semantics. :P |
:-)
I meant to ask specifically about the USB 3.0 drives. |
USB is USB. :)
USB1 is, of course, terrible and old. But USB2 and USB3 are fine for drives. In fact, 3 is (in theory) faster. No harm in buying one. |
Thank you.
