USB controller, missing the driver - where to download?

Due to a number of problems, I restored my HP 1027c to factory. All is well except the Universal usb serial controller shows no driver, I tried going on google , got a lot of phony driver repair deals, went to HP support and found all kinds of drivers except for the controller. Any idea where else to look, or a solution?
Any help greatly appreciated.
