Is Windows 8 Good for VirtualDub?
I'm going to be capturing 8mm/Hi-8 tapes. I have a MacBook Pro 2015 15 inch with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 4770HQ, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB, and 500GB. My Mac can only natively support Windows 8 and Windows 10 via Bootcamp. For Windows 7, I would have to edit a bunch of files and fiddle with drivers just to get it to work. I've read on here that pretty much anything above Windows 7 isn't as good for capturing. Is this still true?
I also have a 2012-2013 Asus R500A-BB71-CB with Windows 7 Home Premium, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 3610QM, 8 GB DDR3, 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD, and Intel HD Graphics 4000. I'd still prefer using my Mac though. |
Windows Vista, Windows 8, and Windows 10 aren't great operating systems for analog video capture. Save yourself the trouble and use your Windows 7 laptop. Many forum members have Windows XP rigs that are used exclusively for capture. They then edit on more powerful PCs running Windows 7.
