Cheap turntable for converting old records/LPs to CD or MP3, $33 @Geeks
If you want a cheap turntable, it'll probably be hard to beat this price:
VIBE Sound VS-2002-SPK USB Turntable/Vinyl Archiver w/Built-in Speakers - Rip Your Old Vinyl to MP3! Your Price: $32.99 http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?Inv...89MUB3_07sep11 http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/imag...2SPKunit-1.gif Quote:
VIBE Sound VS-2002-SPK USB Turntable/Vinyl Archiver General Features: Compact design USB connection for direct recording to your PC or MAC 45 RPM adapter Plays and records 33, 45 RPM & 78 RPM records RCA output (R & L) One-touch play and stop Ceramic stereo cartridge Belt drive system Built-in Speakers USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 backwards compatible Plug and Play Burn your entire album to CD, convert your songs to MP3 for use on your iPod and add all your recorded files to your computer's music library. _______ I generally prefer much higher end audio quality, but some people simply want "good enough" conversions for listening to in the car or on an iPod -- something that doesn't have the speaker power or DAC quality to bring out high quality in music anyway. So this fits the bill. |
Ceramic stylus scares me.
Ion PowerPlay LP ($40 on most sites like J&R, B&H, Tiger Direct, etc.) looks like a better pick in the price range. |
I didn't think the Ion was really any better. What am I missing? I thought it, too, was a cheap ceramic kit.

Nothing I've found said it's ceramic (and I couldn't tell myself from a photo of the stylus). At the very least, I'd have more piece of mind with Ion/Numark at this low level anyway as I've gotten good customer service from them.
