Guys, I just picked up some Sony +R discs at Best Buy for $14.95. Both 16X-R and 8X+R are on sale. I found some 8X+Rs (Yuden) made in Japan. I actually use the Yuden discs for masters. I know LS like them a lot.

When you get the 16x discs, look for both "made in Japan" as well as an octagonal foam press ring (the thing on top of the spindle that holds discs down). For 8x media, it's the same on DVD-R. For 8x DVD+R, both the circle and octagon foam are YUDEN coded.

These tips are how you find TAIYO YUDEN made media on Sony spindles.

On Japanese discs, not fitting the description I just gave, are SONY made discs and not TY made discs. They are good too, but the TY tends to be just a tad better, especially the YUDEN DVD+R discs.

On a side note, Fuji has apparently quit using TY media, they're stocking Prodisc and Fujifilm these days, for the most part.

I'm thinking about switching over completely to Yuden +R discs. I actually lke them better than their counterpart Taiyo Yuden -R discs. I just never have a problem with them. They read great, they burn great.

My advice to you is to buy as many of the 8x DVD+R YUDEN000T02 as you can, as they are now out of production, and all you will get is what is currently on store shelves or in warehouses. Do it now, don't wait much longer. I grabbed a few hundred myself last month, to serve as my secondary masters.

www.supermediastore.com has them (YUDEN00T02), but they are more expensive running about $88.00 shipped for 200 (4/50pks) of them. I have always found it curious that they are more expensive then the Taiyo Yuden -R discs. May be the quality really is better??
