Sony makes some of the best point-and-shoot digital cameras, better even than Canon or Nikon. Sony takes excellent low-light images, and has plenty of modes and features. The Sony cameras also do well at not over-powering your image with too much flash, washing people out and making them too white (no tan) and ghostly/sickly. Compare this against the often-too-strong Canon flashes.
