Sigma makes some decent low-cost glass. Perfect lenses for starter photographers, or even pros on budgets.
I'm no sloppy amateur, and I have at least one Sigma lenses in the camera bag. (Works nicely on a Nikon D3s!)
And then some of the EX glass, like the 70-200 f/2.8, is almost as good as the Canon or Nikkor options. No complaints here.
