DVD video TS convert to mp4 for ipod

What is the best/easiest way to take a vidoeTS movie/concert and create a mp4 file to upload on a ipod 6th gen...apples site says the format needs to be...

H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats...

I only want to do a few for now and downloaded the free version of "Leawo" mp4 converter and it looks pretty good and worked on only one dvd, and have tried 3 others and they won't work, it scrambles the audio, goes into fast-foreward mode, does all kinds of stuff so I tried the first one again...perfect, they are all "videoTS" and the audio folder when you look at the files and all have multi files inside, don't know what the difference is,...can you help?

Thanks

Let's back up a bit.
What software encoders are installed on the computer?
Did you ever buy MainConcept Reference?
Do you want freeware only, or would you look at buying something?

Without even looking, it sounds like standard Chinese crapware. :(

Which is what most of that cheap software does.

My initial thought is to see where x264 + Avidemux is right now.
I know I ran some tests last month, and the MPEG-2 encoding wasn't too shabby for converting downloads to files.

I'll run a few tests this weekend, and look at getting back to you. :)
