Im looking for a Carmcorder with Svideo in but it seems most are Svideo out

I know that the Panasonic gs200 has. goal is capture digitise vhs home videos.

any recommendations & are 3ccd better than one for capture.

You don't need S-Video in to capture, you need S-Video out and no CCD has nothing to do with capturing a tape to computer, Anyway most camcorders have one S-Video socket used as input and output just by changing from recording to playback.

3 CCD were generally higher end camcorders (than 1 CCD models from the same time frame), and generally provided better video as a camcorder used for initial acquisition (shooting). The CCDs are not used for video playback or for recording video from an input jack.

I have a vhs vcr with s-video in/out and a pc i7 & core2duo laptop with firewire connection my pc & laptop does not have a svideo in connection how would i connect my vcr to pc, so i need a device that takes svideo in from vcr and dv out to pc firewire

You need S-Video to USB card, search the forum for USB capture device.

isnt capturing via usb card/dongle the worst possible quality, would a pass thru via svideo in camcorder or another device a better option

No, It's the opposite, assuming using a good capture card, not the easycrap.
