I've seen this player listed quite a bit in Japan.

Is this player decent and does it have an English equivalent?

Does it have a TBC? What kind of playback quality wold I expect from it?

Thank you

I have an NV-FJ700 (not SVHS) which performs very well, but as usual, "condition, condition, condition" applies.

Judging by some quick googling it looks like it's from around 1990, doesn't look like it has a TBC, and apparently approved by George Lucas?:

Doesn't seem to have any exact western analogues, though based on Age and look I would guess it would be along the lines of PAL NV-FS100 and US AG1960.

Japan got a ton of crazy VCRs that were never released elsewhere.

The NV-FJ700 is a way newer model, it's not closely related.
