Dear forum members I have a tiny bit of dust and mould on a video tape
Would it still do bad damage to a video recorder

I certainly wouldn't capture a moldy tape in my daily driver.

For moldy tapes, I clean them in a separate VCR that is only used to clean moldy tapes. I do this outside with plenty of ventilation and still wear a mask and sometimes even gloves if the tape in question is really bad. After cleaning the tape and cleaning out my VCR, I still don't play the tape in my good deck. Instead, I have a third VCR that I only use to play moldy/recently cleaned moldy tapes.

Which format? Some good clear photographs of the dust and mould would help.

Never put mold in a good deck, no matter how small you think it is. All it takes is tiny mold spores to screw up the deck.
