Will a JVC DR-MV1 function correctly with the remote from a JVC DR-10S or do they need the specific one for the model in question?

All of the LSI-based JVC DVD recorders have interchangeable remotes. The JVC DR-M10 and DR-M100 work on each other, as well as on the DR-MV1 and DR-MV5.

As an owner of several units, I just use one remote, and the rest sit in a drawer.

The same is true of JVC S-VHS VCRs, too. Even PAL and NTSC units use the same remotes. (Any VCR for any VCR, that is -- don't misunderstand and think VCR and DVD recorder remotes are interchangeable.)

Some remotes vary in exact layout, buttons and color -- but most of the same basic needed functions are present on all the remotes.

DR-M10 = RM-SDR027U
DR-M100 = RM-SDR009J
SR-MV40/45 = RM-SDR013J
SR-MV50/55 = RM-SSR005U

Correct company-issued remote intended for the M10S:

p/n RM-SDR009J

Correct company-issued remote intended for the MV-1S:

p/n RM-SDR013J

see differing photos below.

I have a few each of these JVC decks, too, but I use whichever model remote was assigned to the specific model...Less chance of wearing its keys, its batteries or a single unit itself down. Six of one, half a dozen of the other; It's up to you- whichever you prefer, I guess?

Hope this help you!

DR-M100 uses RM-SDR027U and looks just like the DR-M10 remote, but without the flip-down panel. The buttons are all visible.

Eject was moved to the top, replaced TV MUTE.

The other small gray buttons under REC / STOP and from under the flip panel are now all under REC/STOP, although slightly re-arranged. REC MODE is in a different spot down there. And Live Check and Angle were merged.

The ergonomics on the back are different too.

Wash hands before handling remotes -- it increases the lifetime.
