I just bought the DVD player that admin suggested for me on here before, the Phillips DVP3560, and I have a question about the picture setting when watching a DVD.

The settings they have are the regular (default) setting that plays as soon as the DVD is started, it's the one that has the black bars on top and on bottom of the picture, and the other options are "screen fit", "4:3 Pan Scan", "4:3 Letter Box" and "16:9".

I have the HDMI cord pulled into my TV.

Is there a certain setting of the ones that I listed above that would be the best to use for optimal picture quality?

Thanks

Match the DVD player aspect to the TV (4:3), HDTV (16:9).
Match as close as possible for a computer monitor: 16:9 or 4:3 is closest to typical 16:10, 16:9 or 5:4 found on LCDs.

Don't use:
"screen fit" -- probably stretches image to fit (just guessing)
"4:3 Pan Scan" -- probably crops image to fit (just guessing)

Use:
"4:3 Letter Box" -- shows proper widescreen on 4:3 non-wide TV
"16:9" -- shows 16:9 filling screen, as should be used for 16:9 HDTV or computer monitor.
