I recently purchased a Sony XBR65X850C. My video tapes appear as a black screen on tv. JVC HR-S2902U is connected to Denon AVR-33803 receiver via S-video. The Denon is connected to tv via component cable. When I disconnect the red cable from tv, the video tapes will play in black and white. Connect the red and it goes to black screen flashing "SD 4801 Unrated". Do you folks know a device to correct this and allow me to play video tapes on this tv?

Looks as if the TV can not detect with interlaced and SD material.

Remedy =
Signal from the JVC HR-S [S-Video and Audio ---> Input Front on Panasonic DMR EH65 [or EH595] ---> HDMI Splitter [18 €] ----> HDMI signal to the TV.

Or even easier .....
Lend you a Panasonic DMR EX98V.
The picture and sound are of VHS + DVD + from internal hard disk directly via HDMI to the TV.

But everything is so simple, come over for coffee, I'll show you how to do that;-)

Not all DVD players get this right, but DVD-Blue-Ray players can.
my Pana-called DMR EX98V can even send a VHS directly via HDMI to my plasma.
Try out.

correction
On UHD TV provides you a as the image 720x576 [720 x 480] or to display 1920 x 1080
I have no UHDTV.

I don't think this has anything to do with UHDTV.

Note that JVC VCR bluescreens are not 100% fully compliant NTSC, so if this is what you're testing, and not a playing tape, then that may be your issue.

I never tried to play a VHS tape on a HDTV, much less UHDTV. I'd have then converted to DVD or SD Blu-ray first, and then have a good DVD/BD player work its magic.
