Hello,
Newbie here. I have a sony blu ray player that I play mkv, avi, and mp4 video files from via a usb flash drive. Sometimes the player struggles with this or won't play the file at all.

What is the best media player to get to play video files off a usb thumb drive?

Thanks

Since I had only a few brief excerpts here have to look.

I have for me "top" a bit longer.
Front connection for ext.USB2 and USB3.
It is important that you adjust the settings properly.

Give me 2 or 3 streams that can not be played with you, I then look whether they [USB3 Stick 32GB] here on TV [per player -> HDMI-out] can be considered.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply but I'm confused. I'm looking for a media player that is excellent at playing all types of video files from a usb flash drive. I don't really care about streaming as I have plenty of devices that already do that well.

Thanks

Get the WDTV Live from Grassroots-Computers on eBay. They sell an excellent refurb for about $60, which is $100+ off the original price:

That seller is awesome, used them many times.
That box is awesome, use it daily.

They have it on amazon, new, at the same price.
Would this be better than the 2015 roku 2 or 3 at playing digital files from usb.
I read some reviews of the WD that said it was slow? Anybody know the specs of the WD.

Thanks

But not sure.

I have 4 of the units from eBay -- 1 for each TV in the house, including the kitchen, so I can watch TV while I cook.

Roku has always had issues. I've avoided them.

The WD boots slow, but I'm not impatient. It takes maybe a minute at most. After that, it's fast until turned back off.

And every now and then, it forgets the network connection when first turned on. So you have to unplug it, and then wait another minute for it to boot. But it's always fine afterwards. And not all units do that, as only 2 of the 4 ever have that problem. It may be my wireless coverage in those rooms, not the box's fault.

I use the WDTV for MP4, MKV, AVI, and DVD ISO.

I have understood all right.
I was not satisfied with the WDTV.

Movies I play Technisat Digicorder ISIO C or when DTS audio is from an LG BP240 [USB front connection] from.

The easiest way but if you the files that are not played to pass the test to colleagues.
A colleague can then safely play all movie types.

Come sure cheaper than if you bought a dozen machine and tried.

Your "AVI" is only Divx or Xvid?

I have both. But mostly Xvid. I've not seen any Divx files for years now, especially in the era of MP4.
